The Referendum was held on 7th September 2023 and was voted in with 1042 Yes votes.

July 2023: The Braunton Neighbourhood Plan has now been reviewed by the Independent Examiner Andrew Ashcroft – he concludes ‘On the basis of the findings in this report I recommend to North Devon Council that
subject to the incorporation of the modifications set out in this report the Braunton
Neighbourhood Development Plan should proceed to referendum‘ (8.3).

Love Braunton members have played an integral part in creating the draft Braunton Parish Neighbourhood Plan over the last few years. We believe this Plan, once formally adopted, will play an essential role in the future development of Braunton Parish. Having gathered input from residents, it contains our aspirations for the village, and sets standards for future developments with its contents becoming a statutory part of planning.

What is a Neighbourhood Plan?
It is a local community’s Statutory development plan whose policies carry real “weight” in the planning process.
The Plan contains the detailed local policies that are specific to its designated area which are used by planning applicants and by local authority planning officers.
What can a Neighbourhood Plan do?
As the illustration below shows the Neighbourhood Plan once adopted is a key part of the planning process.

Love Braunton is an active partner in the development of Braunton Parish Council’s Neighbourhood Plan – an ongoing activity that is in line with our constitutional aim of developing, implementing and maintaining a Neighbourhood Plan for our area.
